pastor jim's last worship service at beaver
sunday, june 19, 2022

Pastor James Vitale said his farewells during an acoustical service on Sunday, June 19. "This is not 'goodbye'" he said, "because there are no real goodbyes among the children of God." Pastor Jim will be continuing his education to become a family and marriage counselor. His family will be living in the Harrisburg area. While he is continuing his education, he will be traveling on occasion to Camp Mount Luther where he has accepted a position of Outreach Director for the camp. We will certainly miss Jim, Isabel and the boys Ezra and Benjamin. Godspeed.

reformation 2021

504 years ago Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to a cathedral door in Wittenberg. Reformation Day was October 31, however Pastor Jim and his family were recuperating from an illness and couldn't be present. So, on November 14 we followed in Luther's footsteps by hammering our own grievances and hopes to a door.

Francis of Assisi composed the Canticle of the Sun (All Creatures, Worship God Most High!) shortly before his death. In it, God is praised through familial creation: brothers wind and fire, sister water, and mother earth. The hymn commands each creature to find its voice, praising God in their very beings. On Sunday, October 3rd we celebrated Francis of Assisi and  his legacy by turning our attention to our beloved pets alongside the manifold creatures who fill earth, sky, and sea.

christmas in july
sunday, july 25, 2021

While we typically only celebrate Christmas once-a-year, the heart of Christmas is something we can celebrate every day. Christmas is all about the incarnation, our God becoming a human being, coming to dwell with us in the midst of our joys and sufferings. On July 25th we remembered God's love in the form of a child who came to save us all.

appearance by rachel kurtz!!
WEDNESDAY, JULY 7, 2021

Singer-Songwriter-Speaker-Storyteller and "rock star" of the past six ELCA National Youth Gatherings, Rachel Kurtz, made a stop at Beaver July 7 to perform! A free-will offering was taken that evening to help with the expenses of taking our next group of teens to the 2022 Youth Gathering in Minneapolis, which is where Rachel makes her home. We are so honored that Rachel chose to spend her birthday with us and of course, we wouldn't let her birthday go by without celebrating. Cake and presents followed her concert. If you did not get a chance to come, you can go to our YouTube channel and watch it there.

Bible & Brew
Our first monthly meeting at the Rusty Rail in Mifflinburg January 23, 2020.

Bible & Brew is a chance for members of the church (anyone is invited!) to get together outside the church, enjoy a good beverage and talk. Pastor Jim asked us to bring our big questions about Jesus, church, culture, and Christian life, anything! And, boy did we ever bring those "Big Questions"!! We laughed ... we cried. It is hoped to make this a monthly event. Please watch the bulletin for the next day in February.
