Our Pilgrimage of Faith...

You and your loved ones are most welcome to join us at Beaver Lutheran Church, and throughout our Lutheran community, this Holy Week as we journey with Jesus toward the cross of Good Friday and await, with longing in our hearts, to see the empty tomb of Easter Sunday.  Come be with us; there's a place just for you. 

Holy Week 2025 Schedule
(April 13th - April 20th)

Sunday
Palm Sunday Mass - 10:15AM - Beaver Lutheran Church
    Procession beginning outside (weather permitting), commemorating Christ’s entry into Jerusalem.  Blessing of the acolytes and the celebration of the Eucharist. The St. Nicholas Choir will sing. 

Monday
Matins - 9AM - Beaver Lutheran Church
    Spoken service of Morning Prayer in the nave featuring Scripture readings.

Tuesday
Chrism Mass - 11AM - St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Shamokin Dam
    Renewal of vows for clergy, celebration of the Eucharist, and the consecration and dispersal of holy oil.  Lunch to follow. 

Wednesday
Compline - 9PM - Beaver Lutheran Church’s Facebook Page
    A short, spoken service of Night Prayer posted via the church’s Facebook page, featuring Scripture readings, a meditation, and reminders of upcoming Holy Week Services.

Thursday
Maundy Mass - 7PM - Beaver Lutheran Church
    A sung Eucharist in the nave commemorating Christ’s Last Supper, featuring Scripture readings, a homily, a healing rite including anointing with holy oil, and concluding with the stripping of the altar. 
Eucharistic Vigil - 8:30PM to 11PM - Beaver Lutheran Church
    After the altar is stripped, those who wish to remain for private prayer and devotion may do so.  The church will be open until 11PM for the Eucharistic vigil.

Friday
Stations of the Cross - 12:15PM - Beaver Lutheran Church
    A simple service of prayer and devotion following the Stations of the Cross in the nave. 
Good Friday Eucharist - 1PM - Beaver Lutheran Church
    A spoken service of prayer as we remember our Lord’s passion.  Holy Communion is shared from the reserved sacrament. 
Veneration & Confession - 2PM to 5PM - Beaver Lutheran Church
    The faithful are invited to offer prayers and venerate the cross in the nave. Private confession will be offered at this time. 
Tenebrae Service - 7PM - Messiah Lutheran Church, Troxelville
    A sung Service of the Word, remembering the events of Jesus’ passion in the tradition of a Tenebrae (darkness) liturgy.

Saturday
Easter Egg Hunt - 1PM - Beaver Lutheran Church
    A traditional egg hunt around the property of the church.  The event will be moved indoors if the weather is bad. 
The Great Vigil of Easter - 7PM - Beaver Lutheran Church
    Beginning outside with the new fire and the lighting of the Paschal Candle, a procession moves the congregation inside where the story of God’s salvation of humanity is heard.  Holy Baptism and the first Eucharist of Easter are celebrated. 

Sunday
Easter Morning Mass - 10:30AM - Beaver Lutheran Church
    The celebration of Christ’s resurrection continues with great fanfare in this sung Eucharist with the St. Nicholas Choir singing.
